Oelbaum founded Reel Inheritance Films in 2008 and produced the feature length documentary Ahead of Time, about the trailblazing journalist Ruth Gruber. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and won 6 Best Documentary awards before being broadcast on Showtime. In 2012, Oelbaum and Sabine Krayenbühl co-founded Between the Rivers Productions. Their first film, Letters From Baghdad, is voiced and executive produced by Tilda Swinton and tells the story of British archaeologist and diplomat Gertrude Bell. The film was shown internationally on broadcasters including PBS, BBC and ARTE/France and Germany and screened theatrically in the U.S. and UK in over 100 theaters. Oelbaum and Krayenbühl are currently in production on Obsessed with Light about American performer and inventor Loïe Fuller.
