Oelbaum founded Reel Inheritance Films in 2008 and produced the feature length documentary Ahead of Time, about the trailblazing journalist Ruth Gruber. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and won 6 Best Documentary awards before being broadcast on Showtime and PBS. In 2012, Oelbaum and Sabine Krayenbühl co-founded Between the Rivers Productions. Their first film, Letters From Baghdad, is voiced and executive produced by Tilda Swinton and tells the story of British archaeologist and diplomat Gertrude Bell. The film was broadcast internationally on PBS, BBC and ARTE/France and Germany, among many others, and screened theatrically in the U.S. and UK in over 120 theaters. Oelbaum and Krayenbühl recently completed Obsessed with Light about American performer and inventor Loïe Fuller. The film is co-produced by ZDF/ARTE and voiced by Cherry Jones and has screened in festivals around the world. It begins its theatrical release at the Quad Cinema in NYC on Dec. 6th, 2024!
